Engineer, Electrical/Mechanical

 

Paine Electronics, An Industry Leader in Pressure and Temperature Measurement would like to find a capable individual to join our engineering team. Since 1951, Paine Electronics has manufactured highly accurate, state-of-the-art pressure instrumentation, pressure transmitters, temperature probes and sensors for some of the world's most vital and technologically-advanced industries.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience.

  • 2+ years experience in mechanical or electrical engineering field.

  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.

  • Ability to work cooperatively in team environment.

  • Must be a US Person (under ITAR rules) to be eligible.

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.

 

The following skills will enhance an applicant’s chance of employment:

  • Prepare and/or modify Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) files and 3-D drawings at the direction of the Engineering Department utilizing current standards.

  • Knowledge of pressure transducers and/or sensor theory and design.

  • Prepare detailed drawings, schematics, process documents and test procedures.

  • Manage new product development using established procedures and tools.

  • Analyze designs using FEA.

  • Communicate clearly and effectively with customers and other engineers.

  • Analog and digital circuit design.

  • Programming skills.

  • Printed circuit board layout and circuit simulation.

  • Diagnostics/Troubleshooting.

  • Hybrid electronics assembly.

  • Review engineering and technical documents for accuracy prior to release.

  • Fluid dynamics and thermal analysis.

  • Experience with metals, ceramics and polymers.

  • Experience with MIL-specs, testing, and documentation.

  • Radiation Hardened Electronics.

  • Class-S Electronics.

  • Processes including: heat treating, coatings, precision cleaning and welding.


Journey Level Machinist/Toolmaker

Run set up program and operate variety of machine tools, such as drill press, manual and CNC lathes, and manual and CNC milling machines to custom machine metal parts.  Analyze specifications and program machine.  Determine tooling needs applying knowledge of metal properties, machining and shop mathematics.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Study specifications, such as blueprint, sketch, damaged part or description of part to be replaced to determine dimensions and tolerances of piece to be machined and the most efficient sequence of operations.  Determine the appropriate tools, material and machines required.

  • Perform sign-off on work order paperwork with neatness and accuracy for every task completed.

  • Receive verbal and/or written guidance and instruction from supervisor on some tasks, especially pertaining to time constraints or unique specifications.

  • Measure, mark and scribe dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining.  Select method of holding work piece and securing with chuck, clamps, tool holder, collets, angle plates, worktable vise or V-blocks.

  • Build tooling or fixtures used during manufacturing of parts.

  • Set up and operate metal removing machines such as lathe or milling machine to machine parts to specification, which may involve programming to set feed rate, cutting speed, depth of cut and cutting tool for each operation, using knowledge of metal properties, machining experience and shop mathematics.  Program or adjust coolant flow.  Observe operation and regulate tool position and action.

  • Draw material into shop from stores inventory.

  • Issue material to work orders and document material check-out to employees; ensure that material is marked with correct part number.

  • Conduct entire machining operation in a reasonable and expected time-frame while keeping scrap to a minimum.

  • Verify and inspect conformance of machined work piece to specifications, using instruments such as micrometers, gages, microscope, calipers and gage blocks.  Maintain an expected level of accuracy on machined parts.

  • "Troubleshoot" program and machine settings to meet acceptable precision levels in order to complete parts to specifications.

  • Understand all phases of the machine shop.

  • Understand and follow established Company safety policies and procedures at all times.

 

MAY ALSO INCLUDE:

  • May operate bench grinder or cutter grinding machine to sharpen tools.

  • Perform other work related duties as assigned.

  • Clean and sweep shop area including orderly maintenance of machine tool attachments.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Two years of apprenticeship plus 6 years of previous "on-the-job" training or 10 years of previous "on-the-job" training in a machine shop.

  • Knowledge of shop mathematics (algebra, trigonometry and geometry) and the ability to read, write, speak and understand English.

  • Knowledge of the properties of various materials and metals.

  • Blueprint and sketch reading skills are necessary.

 

OCCUPATIONAL DEMANDS:

  • Position requires constant standing and walking while adjusting machine controls with both hand-arm and foot-leg movements and upper trunk twisting.

  • Occasional lifting or carrying of materials and mechanical parts weighing approximately 50 pounds for distances up to 100 feet.

  • Frequent reaching below knees and from waist to knees may be expected.

  • Simple grasping tasks are required which may include wrist twisting and fine fingering manipulation.


Intermediate Level Machinist:

A FLSA NON-EXEMPT EMPLOYEE. Run set up program and operate variety of machine tools, such as drill press, manual and CNC lathes, and manual and CNC milling machines to custom machine metal parts.  Determine tooling needs applying knowledge of metal properties, machining and shop mathematics. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Entry Level Machine Shop Position

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • De-burr and clean parts using de-burring and polishing wheels.

  • Clean and sweep shop area.

  • Transport bar stock from shipping and receiving department to machine shop; cut bar stock for inventory storage.

  • Follow written and oral instructions from experienced machinists (General Machinist, Lead Machinist, Journey Level or Supervisor) in assisting in tasks around machine shop.

  • Understand and follow established Company safety policies and procedures at all times.

 

MAY ALSO INCLUDE:

  • Performing other work related duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Basic knowledge of arithmetic and the ability to read, write, speak and understand English.

  • Previous machine shop experience not required.  

 

OCCUPATIONAL DEMANDS:

  • Position requires constant standing and walking while adjusting machine controls with both hand‑arm and foot-leg movements and upper trunk twisting.

  • Occasional lifting or carrying of materials and mechanical parts weighing approximately 50 pounds for distances up to 100 feet.

  • Frequent reaching below knees and from waist to knees may be expected.

  • Simple grasping tasks are required which may include wrist twisting and fine fingering manipulation.

  • May be exposed to loud decibels of noise and frequent encounters with fumes, mists, dust, odors, and on occasion, poor ventilation.
